How I’m Landing Software Engineering Interviews in 2025

Everyone’s always asking, “How do I get a tech job?”
But the better question is: “How do I get the interview—and how do I get them consistently?”

Asking how to get a tech job without figuring out interviews first, is like asking how to get a girlfriend but skipping the first date. You’re missing the step that actually gets you in the door.

Breaking into software engineering isn’t just about having skills—it’s about knowing how to market them. Here’s how I’ve been applying for SWE roles and the strategies I’ve used that actually work:

📍 1. Don’t Be Afraid to Move

Some of the best roles aren’t in your backyard. I’ve looked beyond my current city and considered tech hubs where the opportunities are better—and that has massively increased my chances of getting interviews.

Flexibility = leverage.

🤖 2. Beat the AI Resume Filters

Most resumes don’t even get seen by a human. I format mine with:

  • Keywords from the job description

  • Clear section headers

  • Simple formatting (no weird columns or graphics)

  • Bullet points that focus on impact, not just tasks

Example:
❌ "Built a workout tracker in JavaScript"
✅ "Developed a JavaScript fitness app that tracks user progress and auto-generates weekly workout plans, improving consistency for 30+ users"

How you did it and why it mattered gets attention.

📌 3. Write Strong Bullet Points

Every line on your resume should answer:
→ What did I do?
→ How did I do it?
→ What was the result?

Think: Impact + How You Did it + Why it Mattered.

"Implemented CI/CD pipeline using GitHub Actions, reducing deployment time by 70%"

💬 Final Thoughts

The job market’s tough, but that just means we need to be smarter. Do the research, go where the opportunities are, and make your bullet points count. If you're stuck—start small. One tweak at a time builds momentum.
